Automotive still fuels growth

Despite the effects of the pandemic, the automotive sector remains a key driver for Avon Group companies.

Nissan Qashqai

Trials of a range of NVH and HVAC parts for the new Nissan Qashqai have been underway for the last few months and this is expected to culminate in significant new business into next year as the new vehicles starts to roll-off the production lines in Nissan’s Sunderland factory.

This is in addition to an extensive range of NVH products supplied to other UK and European automotive manufacturers using our unique kiss-cutting production capabilities.

No sitting back

A recent contract win for a worldwide group making specialist seating for tractors and HGV vehicles has given a positive boost to our growing plastic moulding business. A variety of components are being supplied including seat gaiters, gear shifts and fascia mouldings.

Our ability to supply different parts using a variety of materials has helped us to secure the business.

Defending the Defender

With a pedigree of over 70 years of innovation and product development, the all-new Land Rover Defender represents the embodiment of durability and ruggedness in the ultimate all-terrain vehicle. Avon Group are immensely proud to have contributed to the development of many components used in the manufacture of the new vehicle and have recently been awarded long-term contracts which will see continuous production over the next seven years.

Electric vehicles

Avon Group’s automotive business is adapting rapidly to the fast pace of change sweeping the automotive manufacturing sector. The race to electrification has already meant the development of new and innovative parts for electric vehicles (EV’s) is well underway. Avon Group’s depth of expertise in materials development and manufacturing has enabled it to react quickly to customer demands for battery components, lightweight ducting, heat protection materials and NVH designed specifically for new EV’s.

Investment in NVH

Avon Group’s position as one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of NVH products to the automotive sector is being further reinforced with two significant developments at AER Stafford in the West Midlands. The company is investing in additional skills with the recruitment of leading industry experts in the automotive NVH field as well as making significant investment in a new technical and development laboratory facility at its site in Norton Canes.

“This will help us work in even closer partnerships with our customers to develop and test products to meet individual manufacturers’ requirements that meet higher performance criteria than ever before” says Charles Bamford, Managing Director.
