Avon Engineered Rubber received an important seal of approval from local member of the Welsh Parliament, Buffy Williams MS. It follows her fact-finding mission to the factory, arranged as AER is a key local employer at a time when many industries are struggling in a highly challenging climate.

“Buffy was highly complimentary about our business, our facilities and our people,” Managing Director, Vince Minchella said.

“It was great to hear her say it was a pleasure to see for herself that a Valleys company is thriving, providing stable employment for local people, and representing Wales all over the world.

“And a number of Buffy’s Welsh Government colleagues will explore how to support business growth and development of our people and we look forward to developing this valuable relationship.

Investment boosts sales

In a further boost for AER’s Maerdy plant, there will be a £300,000 investment in new extruders and plant upgrades to enhance world-class manufacturing standards.

The flurry of AER activity overseas and on home soil, means the company is well placed to help Avon Group break through the £100m sales barrier for the first time.
