Avon Group fundraisers support local charities

Staff at the companies across the Avon Group family have rallied behind good causes which rely on donations.

Children’s Hospice South West

Avon Group has raised a fantastic £150,000 for Children’s Hospice South West. Amanda Gallagher, Corporate Partnerships Fundraiser at the Hospice wrote: “We can’t thank you enough for your continued support. At a time when the cost of living continues to increase, your support could pay for vital support for our families, specifically, it could pay for one of our nurses for over two and a half years.

AcoustaProducts colleagues rose the challenge to make something special to celebrate the £150,000 raised for the charity rather than the traditional giant cheque.

They sprang into action and did Avon Group proud by producing a series of foam figures which spell out the current total and were designed with youngsters at the Hospice in mind so they can have a bit of fun too.

Avon TSA fundraising for cancer

Avon TSA Customer Services Representatives Kim Apperley and Connie Saunders completed a 5K Race for Life in May with Kim sponsored to the tune of £487, while Connie raised a further £394 and she also completed a 10k Shine Night Walk for Cancer Research raising a further £406 for a brilliant cause.

AGM Bristol

AGM Bristol colleagues have rallied round in support of the company’s chosen charity for 2025, the Dorothy House Hospice which offers palliative and end of life care in Somerset and Wiltshire.

They staged a charity cake sale with fantastic homemade creations to whet the appetites of colleagues. And Scott Lamerton demonstrated sizzling style by donning his apron and cooking breakfast for all, putting to good use the ovens at their Bristol lab!

Edgewest Plastics

Edgewest Plastics team has been busy supporting a charity which will be close to the hearts of many colleagues. Haley, Roger, Eddie and Gerry teamed up to arrange a MacMillan coffee morning which was well supported and raised £327.45 for the charity which supports people who are living with cancer.

Scandura

Staff at Corby-based Scandura staged a Christmas jumper day, raising £144 for nearby Lakelands Hospice which provides care for people in the local community who are living with life-limiting illnesses.

P&D Manufacturing

The P&D Manufacturing team also donned their festive jumpers to show support for the Julia’s House children’s hospice in Wiltshire, with money raised helping staff provide respite care for children and families, either in the Devizes hospice or at home.

In a thank-you letter to P&D, Julia’s House corporate fundraiser put the support into perspective, writing: “We rely almost entirely on donations from the public – kind supporters like you – to provide our vital care in your community. We simply couldn’t do it without you.”

Committed to charity support

Giving to charity is a choice and commitment for Avon Group, part of the ‘Avon Way’ in-house culture. Mark Rushin, Avon Group Director, commended colleagues. “The Avon Group colleagues who have supported local charities have done themselves proud but also done the company proud as well with their sterling efforts.”

“We remain committed to our charity work and it’s great to see the way we have continued to pull together to generate lots of much-needed money for important causes.

“We know every penny of the funds raised by Avon Group will help people as they navigate their way through tough times and they will inspire our fundraising activities going forward.”
