Transformation reaps improvements

Manni Press with operator at AER Stafford

Work has now been completed to upgrade one 2,800 sq. m unit of production space at Avon Group’s automotive division, AER Stafford, in the West Midlands.

The thermoforming, die-cutting and specialised assembly areas have been transformed with a complete refurbishment and reorganisation of the production space. The physical and aesthetic improvements have also been supplemented by the installation of new equipment and a review of key processes, resulting in significant productivity and quality improvements. “We already supply some of the world’s leading car manufacturers and need to demonstrate to them first hand that we, like them, set the highest standards of quality and manufacturing” said Charles Bamford, Managing Director.

Machinery investment

The installation of a new 250 tonne die-cutting and thermoforming machine has created improved productivity and increased capacity for the production of NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) products for the automotive market.  The new machine is part of the preparation for a contract for BMW due to start in October.

Charles Bamford, Managing Director said “The new press enables the company to die-cut, form and laminate in one operation, increasing our productivity and freeing-up much needed additional capacity on other machines to enable us to take -on important new contracts.”
